We’ve launched a Building Stronger Community Organisations toolkit, which aims to strengthen refugee-led and refugee-supporting communities.

The free online resource was unveiled at a special webinar on Monday, 9 December. It is aimed a groups, organisations and members of communities across Scotland that support and welcome New Scots.

Building Stronger Community Organisations is a 10-module toolkit, created in partnership with the Scottish Community Development Centre.

Jewels Lang, Community Development Manager at Scottish Refugee Council said: “We’re delighted to officially launch this toolkit, which we hope will play a key role in strengthening and empowering refugee-led and refugee-supporting organisations across Scotland.

“This resource is for refugee communities, refugee supporting organisations, and anyone else working for a community organisation as part of their job, or as a volunteer. Each module is designed to build skills, confidence and knowledge to help groups better understand what they want to achieve as an organisation and how they can work together to achieve these aims.”

Mick Doyle, Head of Programmes at Scottish Community Development Centre, said: “There are few groups more discriminated against than refugees and asylum seekers, so we are delighted to have co-created this toolkit with Scottish Refugee Council, with involvement from refugees themselves.

“The resource highlights how the refugee support movement greatly contributes to Scotland’s communities, by developing a tool organisations can use to gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to tackle the issues that affect people’s lives.”

Take a look at this new resource and discover how you can use it to empower and strengthen your community.
