In March 2021, a number of refugee-led and refugee-assisting community groups all over Scotland were awarded funding as part of the Improving Community Resilience Fund.

Grants from Corra Foundation and Foundation Scotland allowed these groups to tackle digital poverty and isolation in their communities during lockdown, and provided vital support to families and individuals.

In October/November 2021, we held a series of events for community groups and funders to meet. One event took place in-person in Glasgow, and another took place online for those who couldn’t make it or didn’t feel comfortable attending in-person.

The “Meet the Funders” events were an opportunity for community representatives to celebrate their recent work and achievements, network and establish partnerships, and a chance to ask questions and advice from some of Scotland’s biggest funding organisations.

Joining Corra Foundation and Foundation Scotland, who funded the event as well as the Improving Community Resilience Fund, were:

“The event was a really great chance to meet organisations on the ground.”

“It was useful to learn about how groups have been managing, and to introduce groups to our work”

“It was great to be at an in-person event again after so much lockdown and the venue was just perfect. The video was inspirational!”

Representatives from community groups across Scotland had this to say about meeting the funders:

“It was indeed a great and successful event. Getting to know and interact with the funders is such a wonderful thing that has happened to me.”

“Thank you so much for today.  It was very useful.  I think simply getting the chance to hear what others are doing and sharing ideas is so helpful.”

“Great event. It made a difference seeing people face to face. I got to ask lots of questions. Easier than emailing all the time”.

Thank you to all of our team members who put huge effort into making these sessions a success, and again thankyou to Foundation Scotland and Corra Foundation for making them possible.
