Scottish Refugee Council is looking for an advisor who will be working with and supporting the new Scots to build their lives in Scotland by providing one to one casework so people can understand, access and exercise their rights; including Welfare right benefits, safe and suitable accommodation, health care system, the labour market to be able to look for and find jobs, access English language support if required, legal status and pathways to citizenship. You will do this by working directly with refugees from a range of backgrounds, including those who recently arrived from Ukraine and Afghanistan,. You will be assessing their needs, providing advice and advocacy and develop a holistic integration plan with clear progression pathways in all areas of Integration
This is a great opportunity for someone who is committed to support people to achieve their own goals, has experience of working with people whose first language is not English, as well as having knowledge of the systems. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills combined with an ability to work in a high-pressure situation in a rapidly changing environment. In addition, you will have to be able to work on your own initiative, have excellent organisational skills and be a confident user of IT systems.
