Inam Akbari brings a diverse background in finance and law enforcement and a commitment to promote equality and inclusiveness. He served as the Deputy General Director of FinTRACA, overseeing the protection of Afghanistan’s financial systems from money laundering and other financial crimes. Alongside his professional achievements, he holds BA in English Literature and an MBA. Throughout his tenure with FinTRACA, he has actively participated in various international conferences, seminars, and courses focusing on Anti-Money Laundering and combating the financing of Terrorism. His journey first experienced life as a refugee after fleeing Afghanistan during the civil war in 1990, and later returned to contribute to the country’s rebuilding efforts.
Following the collapse of the Republic regime in Afghanistan in 2021, he and his family were evacuated to the UK and settled in Glasgow following a period in bridging hotels. Since arriving in Scotland, Inam has devoted himself to assisting fellow Afghans in adapting to their new communities and accessing essential resources. He hopes to utilise his skills and experience to contribute to the empowerment and integration of refugees in Scotland.
