Calling all community groups, artists and performers, we want you to take part in Refugee Festival Scotland 2025!

This year’s festival will run from June 13th to 22nd and the theme is MILESTONES

It is a particularly special occasion for us — marking 25 years of Refugee Festival Scotland and the 40th anniversary of Scottish Refugee Council — and we’re inviting everyone to create their own celebrations of milestones and cultural richness in communities across Scotland.

If you’ve got an idea for an event or activity that showcases refugee arts and culture, or brings people from different backgrounds together, we’d love to hear from you.

Your event can take any form – an exhibition, puppet show, poetry reading, sing-a-long or family friendly picnic – so long as it’s open to the public. This is a festival for everyone.

Event submissions are are now open until April, with some funding opportunities open for applications until February.

Refugee Festival Scotland 2025

Refugee Festival Scotland 2025 is a moment to remember past decades, reflect on the present, and look towards the future, as we celebrate milestones in communities across Scotland.

We commemorate decades of cultural enrichment, renewal and welcome made possible through providing sanctuary in Scotland, and we pay tribute to the day-to-day effort, creativity and coming together of so many people which sustain this.

We invite celebrations of individual and collective milestones, of resounding and fragile milestones, of milestones yet to come.

How to be part of this year’s festival programme:

Anyone can take part in Refugee Festival Scotland. Need inspiration? Look back at some of the events from last year’s festival.

Event submissions are now open. If you’ve got an idea for an event or activity that showcases refugee arts and culture, or brings people from different backgrounds together, we’d love to hear from you.

The deadline for event registration is April 25th at 12pm.

We also have two funding opportunities available to help grassroots groups, organisations and artists run events: Small Grants and Arts Open. Both are open for applications until February 25th at 12pm.

More details about how to submit is available on the Refugee Festival Scotland website.
