Important information for anyone arriving in the UK on or after 7 March 2023

The rules around claiming asylum are changing.

If you entered the UK on or after 7 March 2023 your case will be treated differently.

This is because the UK Government plans to pass a law that will change the way asylum claims are treated. This is not yet law but we expect it will be very soon.

Right now, the most important thing you can do if you entered the UK on or after 7 March 2023, is seek legal advice as soon as possible.

A lawyer will give you advice about what to do next and answer your questions about the law changes. If you receive a letter from the Home Office, take that to your lawyer who will explain what to do next.

It’s really important to phone a lawyer and seek legal advice as soon as you arrive.

You have the right to ask for free legal advice.

If you know someone who entered the UK on or after 7 March 2023, please share this information with them.

The law is changing. It will affect everyone who arrives on or after 7 March 2023. Seek legal advice as soon as you arrive.
