Scottish Refugee Council team based in Dundee supports refugees to integrate into the community in Dundee and the wider UK. We use a range of methods to facilitate this including Social Media.
What will I be doing?
Your duties will be varied but will include:
- Translating messages from English into Tigrinya for WhatsApp messages.
- Translating in person to support communication with Advisers and other professionals.
- Working closely with volunteers and members of staff
- Occasionally accompanying clients for appointments to support interpretation.
- Adding voiceovers to the videos created by the social media volunteer (internal training will be provided).
What skills and qualities do I need?
- A good level of English and Tigrinya
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with a range of different people including asylum seekers and refugees
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliability, punctuality and enthusiasm
