Scottish Refugee Council is committed to assisting and empowering refugees to rebuild their lives in Scotland and settle into the local areas and communities.
Working as part of Corporate Services team, the Reception Volunteer will be supporting the smooth running of the Glasgow office through provision of an efficient and effective reception service.
What will I be doing?
Duties will be varied but will include:
- Provide an efficient and effective reception service and administrative support which ensures the smooth running of the office
- Provide a professional and welcoming service to business visitors and clients
- Ensure that all business visitors are signed in and inform the appropriate member of staff of their arrival
- Process all incoming and outgoing mail in line with reception procedures
- Ensure all incoming calls are handled professionally and forwarded to the appropriate person or their voicemail
- Book interpreters as and when required
- Book taxis as and when required
- Ensure that all reception duties are carried out in line with office procedures. Undertake any other appropriate duties as requested
What skills and qualities do I need?
- Good communication skills
- Ability to multi-task at a very busy reception desk
- Good command of English language, both verbal and written
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- A strong ability to show empathy with the needs of refugees and asylum seekers
- An ability to work autonomously
- A willingness to learn
- Reliability, punctuality and trustworthiness
