We are really excited to announce that Museum of Things will be designing our artwork for this year’s Refugee Festival Scotland!
Set up during the pandemic in an effort to stay connected and improve wellbeing, Museum of Things is coordinated by Maryhill Integration Network with artists Mousa AlNana and Paria Goodarzi.
The project works with around 25 people with lived experience of refugeehood and the asylum system. It aims to provide people with new opportunities and connections, and space to explore their creativity.
During last year’s festival they opened up one of their workshops to the general public, and in August they held an exhibition of their work at the White House in Maryhill.
Museum of Things is a fantastic project which has made a real difference to people’s lives. We are absolutely delighted to offer them the commission to design our artwork for Refugee Festival Scotland 2022.
The group only found out last weekend that they will be designing our artwork. According to Paria, everyone is really excited about the opportunity. She says that she has already received loads of ideas, designs and drawings from participants. We can’t wait to see what this talented group of artists come up with!
Museum of Things will meet weekly on Saturdays to brainstorm and plan their designs in small groups. They will work towards a final design over the coming months.
We will follow their journey throughout the design process and hear from some of the artists involved in the lead up to Refugee Festival Scotland 2022 in June. Watch this space!
