On 28th April, we celebrated Eid and Nowruz with women and children we support in Aberdeen.

The celebration was held at the Hilton Community Centre. Attendees enjoyed vibrant performances of music and dancing, delicious food, cultural exchanges between communities, an exhibition, and fun children’s activities.

The event was to commemorate Nowruz (Persian New Year) and celebrate Eid ul-Fitr, which is the conclusion of the month of Ramadan. Families from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Syria, now living in Aberdeen, came together to celebrate, enjoy themselves and connect with each other.

Organiser Yalda, who works in our Communities team to coordinate Women’s Peer Support Groups across Scotland, said:

It was a wonderful gathering that brought women and children from various minority groups together for laughter and cultural enrichment. Friends, family, and community members joined us to celebrate these special occasions.
