People fleeing the war against Ukraine who are living in Scotland can apply to remain in the UK for a further 18 months in the New Year.

The UK government has announced a new Ukraine Permission Extension Scheme, which will open on 4 February 2025.

Who can apply?

Ukrainian nationals and their family members who are already living in the UK and hold a visa under one of the other Ukraine schemes can apply for the extension.

There is no fee to apply online but the application must be submitted before current visas expire.

If the application is successful, applicants will be given permission to stay in the UK for a further 18 months. This period of residency will not count towards settlement.
