Waverley Care is Scotland’s HIV, hepatitis and sexual health charity.
Our Health Improvement Team West (Glasgow and Lanarkshire) has an African Health Project which works with people from African communities who are living with HIV, as well as providing education and HIV/hepatitis testing for people who would like to know their status.
We can also provide free condoms and information about other HIV prevention tools to people who want to know more, and can provide awareness-raising sessions to members of the community or staff in organisations that work with African communities.
A lot of the people we work with are refugees and asylum seekers and as such we are experienced in linking refugees and asylum seekers living with HIV/ hepatitis into wider holistic support, as well as offering specialised support around blood-borne viruses/help to attend appointments and (in some cases) support to access destitution funds for people living with HIV.
