Scottish Refugee Council is delighted to be working with a host of cafés and restaurants in Glasgow, who are supporting our latest food-inspired fundraising campaign – Tastes from Home.

As part of the campaign, and alongside Refugee Festival Scotland 2019, a number of food venues will be donating a portion of what their customers spend to Scottish Refugee Council throughout the month of June.

Funds raised will support Scottish Refugee Council’s wide-ranging services, which includes giving one-to-one support to newly-arrived refugees, and running advice sessions for families, to hiring interpreters, or providing emergency grants to destitute asylum seekers.

Joanna Nethery from participating restaurant Five March, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to be part of the Tastes from Home fundraising campaign. The comforts of a familiar dish can be so evocative. Scottish Refugee Council’s work helping people start new lives here is inspiring, and we’re glad to be able to support them.”

Scottish Refugee Council’s Louise McGovern, said:

“We’re delighted to be working with so many great venues around the city. Food has an amazing power to bring people and communities together and we’re excited to be taking Tastes from Home to new audiences. Every penny raised throughout this campaign will help us support vulnerable men, women and children in Scotland.”
