Aaliya is committed to equality and diversity and has championed these principles in paid and voluntary positions. She currently leads Legal Services Agency in the capacity as Chief Executive and has over eighteen years of senior management experience in voluntary sector organisations and sound knowledge of financial management, human resources and fundraising. Aaliya’s previous experience includes management positions with Citizens Advice Scotland and managing Airdrie CAB. She gained considerable experience of immigration, asylum and human rights law whilst working with Ethnic Minorities Law Centre. Her previous work experience includes managing the Immigration Advisory Service’s four international offices in South East Asia.
Aaliya is a Committee Member of the National Lottery Community Fund in Scotland and a lay member of The Law Society of Scotland, Civil Legal Aid Quality Assurance Sub-Committee and Equality and Diversity Committee.
She is passionate about the positive difference the voluntary sector has on communities.
