Across Cultures
Why are people forced to flee.

The Curious Project at St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art will host an evening of performance Across Cultures on the 23 June 7-10pm. The theatre presented reflect the reasons why refugees and asylum seekers leave their home cultures to seek safety and a new life.

One-woman-whirlwind

Annet Henneman from Teatro Di Nascosto ( Hidden Theatre) has developed a method of theatrical performance which can only be called Theatre Reportage. Her one woman show features songs and stories of human interest from Iraq, Iran, Kurdistan, Palestine and Argentina and she will perform this at Across Cultures. There will also be plenty of time for audiences to speak to Annet about her work after her show.

During Refugee Week 2012 Annet is going to be very busy as she will be working with actors , human rights activists and refugees to create their own piece of Theatre Reportage for Across Cultures.  She also performed her show Dont Forget Us at The Tron Theatre on Wednesday 20 June.

Along with this incredible performance we will be screening a short film paired with live movement and spoken word developed by Theatre Found Limited and young unaccompanied asylum seekers from Anniesland College called One Spirit . This film features an original song written by Sagriamoss , a young man from the Congo which he has dedicated  to his mother and young Scottish actors who  read moving stories given to them by their  Kurdish and Iranian friends who are seeking asylum and desperately need their voices heard.
