Refugee Festival Scotland Ambassador

Scottish Refugee Council is looking for Refugee Festival Ambassadors to help raise awareness about the festival and about people’s experiences of starting new lives in Scotland.

If you have experience of seeking asylum, are passionate about changing people’s attitudes to refugees and interested in free media training in Glasgow in early May 2019 (travel expenses paid) then this could be an opportunity for you.

What is Refugee Festival Scotland?

Refugee Festival Scotland celebrates the contribution refugees make to life in Scotland. The festival is a really positive event that shows off the many rich cultures of people who have moved here from other countries.

What is a Refugee Festival Ambassador?

A Festival  Ambassador is an empowered spokesperson for the festival and for themselves, and will be part of our marketing campaign to promote the festival.

Refugee Festival Ambassadors will be supported to do media interviews and do their own storytelling (e.g. through blogs/ social media) about refugee experiences, in the run up to and during Refugee Festival Scotland. There is also an option to be part of our marketing campaign, and be featured in posters across the city to promote the festival.

Is it for me?

We are looking for people who:

  • Feel comfortable with public speaking and/or speaking to the media
  • Are comfortable with your photograph being taken to promote the festival* *(optional)
