Official launch of Sisonke

An exciting new community arts venture launches in Glasgow this week.

Sisonke Community Arts, which launches this Saturday (April 23), will celebrate modern Scotland’s cultural diversity through the arts and social activities. Sisonke (Zimbabwean for ‘together’) will focus on uniting people from all walks of life in an environment that encourages the promotion and exploration of the diverse cultures present in Glasgow. Experiences and cultures will be shared through a wide range of events including music, dance, poetry, food tastings and explorations of the great outdoors.

The group has been set up by Patience Tsungu who is originally from Zimbabwe. Patience is one of the subjects of Scottish Refugee Council’s summer exhibition at Kelvingrove Art Gallery, where the contribution Glasgow’s refugee community has made to Scotland since the UN Refugee Convention was signed 60 years ago will be celebrated.

If you’re interested in joining the group or just want to show your support for the work their doing then head down to the launch – all the details are on the flyer below.

For more information, contact Patience Tsungu by email or go to the Sisonke Community Arts website.
