What’s on in Dundee and Angus
Dundee, the UK’s first UNESCO City of Design and the beautiful surrounding area of Angus are hosting a number of multicultural, artistic and family friendly events in celebration of Refugee Festival Scotland 2017 (20 June – 02 July).
Theatre | 23 – 24 June
Dundee Rep’s Youth Theatre present two exciting new plays: The Blue Road by acclaimed writer Laura Lomas is a moving exploration of memory, loss, living in the aftermath and our capacity to begin again. HOME takes inspiration from The Blue Road, drawing on personal and political stories from near and far, this new performance will explore what home means to us in 2017. Join Dundee International Women’s Centre for a special women-only event on 28 June.
A screening of the 2011 award winning film ‘Where do we go now?’ by the distinguished Lebanese director, Nadine Labaki will be followed by a discussion reflecting on the film and some delicious traditional Eid food. This is a free event sponsored by Amina and Muslim Women Resource Centre.

Multicultural Angus Community Group is celebrating their Angus 2nd Annual Refugee Festival this year, with a trio of exciting events to get everyone in the area involved in RFS 2017.
Film | 20 June
They are kick-starting their festival programme with the screening of Academy Award-winning short documentary The White Helmets (2016), directed by Orlando von Einsiedel and produced by Joanna Natasegara. The British documentary follows the daily operations of a group of volunteer rescue workers – The Syrian Civil Defense, otherwise known as The White Helmets.
Visual Art | 20 June – 2 July
Running from 20 June to 2 July, Multicultural Angus Community Group presents ‘Who am I?’ a beautiful exhibition of multiple art pieces, in the form of children’s ceramic masks of self-expression and a design tree. The masks are in various businesses along a trail and mask-maps will be available from the starter shop the T-Potters Café. Visit their website to find out more.
Sport | 01 July
Celebrate the last weekend of Refugee Festival Scotland 2017 and join Multicultural Angus Community Group’s 2nd annual International Football League Cup tournament for the ARC Cup. There is something for everyone at this fun-filled family day, with adult & kids football leagues, a picnic, bouncy castle & face painting.
