Refugee Festival Scotland 2017 – Top 5 Family Days Out
If you’re looking for some new ways to keep the kids busy this summer, then look no further than Refugee Festival Scotland (20 June – 02 July). This year’s programme is brimming with creative, family friendly activities. With over 30 family and community days scheduled across Scotland, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. Join us, connect with local and refugee community groups in your area and celebrate the contribution refugees make to the culture and diversity of Scotland.

23 – 25 June | Solas Festival | Perth
Scotland’s family friendly midsummer festival of music and ideas is taking place in the beautiful Perth countryside. Alongside headliners WHITE, Lau and C Duncan, look out for performances from refugee artists from around the world, talks led by Unesco Chairholder Professor Alison Phipps, and the Noyam African Dance Institute of Ghana visit to collaborate with The Ha Orchestra.

24 June | Garnethill Elfins | Glasgow
Garnethill Elfins are hosting a Summer Solstice Celebration at North Kelvin Meadow on Saturday afternoon, 1pm – 4pm. Join them for games, food sharing and a campfire to celebrate connections, international friendship and solidarity.
25 June | Story Swap | Fife
Community theatre group Suit and Pace are hosting a family friendly storytelling session at Kirkcaldy Galleries, 1pm – 4pm. They will be performing traditional Scottish and Syrian folklore, with puppets!
29 June | Woodland Connections | Glasgow
Join Open Aye and Urban Roots for a party in the woods at Malls Mire Community Woodlands, Toryglen. A lovely creative afternoon with open fire cooking, woodland photo walks, craft activities and a cinema yurt. Everyone is welcome to come and connect under the trees. This is a free event, but please bring a dish to share.

1 July | Ceilidh Connections | Edinburgh
Edinburgh City of Sanctuary are hosting a special ceilidh event to celebrate RFS17 and the many people, places, initiatives and organisations that make Edinburgh a welcoming city for people seeking sanctuary.
