Voting closed as of Monday 24 October at noon.  The winners will be announced in a few weeks.

Vote for us!   We’ve applied to RBS’s Community Force Programme for a grant of £6000 to support our Refugee Week Scotland Community Celebrations Programme.  A first for us – and we’re very excited about this opportunity but can’t succeed without your help. So please vote for us on the RBS Community Force Programme website

So, why vote for us?

Do you support a Scotland that builds strong, united communities and celebrates diversity?

Each year we coordinate Refugee Week Scotland, an exciting week-long festival of events across the country which mark the diversity and many contributions refugees make to Scotland.  In addition to being a wonderful week of celebrations with refugees and the wider community, it also raises awareness of asylum issues in Scotland and highlights the lives and experiences of refugees living here

One of the most successful elements of Refugee Week Scotland is our Community Celebrations Programme, which empowers and supports local refugee community organisations to organise their own events during Refugee Week.

Refugee Week Scotland – an enriching celebration of culture offering something for everyone

There’s a wide range of activity on offer – everything from Games Day, International Family Day and Refuge Celebration Day.  Importantly these events not only enable local refugee groups to enjoy and share their rich cultural heritage but encourages the wider community to join in, creating stronger, more united neighbourhoods across Scotland.

Refugee Week Scotland, though amazing, is only possible because of donations and the generosity of the public.   And while we gratefully acknowledge the past contributions of our supporters, this £6000 grant would allow 15 local community celebration events to take place during Refugee Week Scotland 2012.  Giving Refugee Week Scotland firm roots – even in an unsettled economy.

Vote – and spread the word

You can only vote once – but you can also encourage your friends, family and colleagues to vote for us.  So pass it on!  You can vote anytime between 26 September and 24 October 2011 (by noon).

If we receive the most votes, then we are awarded a grant of £6000.  It’s that simple.  And it you can help us get there!

Your vote will go a long way to building a stronger, enriched and welcoming Scotland – a country we are all proud of.
